HyperDrop is the Mac app plus a server you own. Get a server one of three ways:
- Server Management installs onto a VPS over SSH and ends with a join code.
- The one-line installer sets up a Linux box from its own terminal.
- The Synology package installs from Package Center on DSM 7 or DSM 6.2.
Then open HyperDrop Desktop, choose Join a HyperDrop server and paste the join link, or type the address, login and password the installer printed (details). To share, right-click a file in Finder and choose Share via HyperDrop. Every share gives a View link and a Download link.
Set up
- Install on a Linux server: Server Management over SSH, or the one-line installer, on a VPS or at home.
- Install on a Synology NAS: Package Center on DSM 7 and DSM 6.2, the install wizard and the router.
Reach it from the internet
- Address and router: A free hyperdrop.link name or your own domain, the two DNS records, port forwards.
- When ports 443 and 80 are taken: Run HyperDrop beside a website, DSM or Home Assistant behind one proxy.
Keep it running
- Updates: The app, the command line, the server, the Synology package, Server Management, and version mismatches.
- Command line: Share from a terminal on Linux, macOS or Windows, or script it.
- AI agents: Let Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex or Gemini share files and set up servers.
