The web version
HyperDrop in your browser
Nothing to install. Your HyperDrop server carries its own web version, for a borrowed or public computer, or when you would rather not install an app.
How to open it
In any browser, open your server's address followed by /app:
https://share.example.com/app
Use the address your share links start with. A free address works the same way: https://yourname.hyperdrop.link/app. It comes with HyperDrop Server 1.2.0 or newer.
- With your password: your login and password, and the code from your authenticator app when your account has two-factor turned on.
- With your phone, without typing your password on that computer: choose Sign in with your phone, scan the code with HyperDrop on your phone, and type the number the browser shows into the phone. This needs the HyperDrop app on your phone, signed in to the same server.
Staying signed in
On your own computer, tick This is my computer and the browser stays signed in for 30 days after you last use it.
Leave it off anywhere else. The browser then signs out when it closes, or after 30 minutes without use. A sign-in with your phone is always this kind. When you are done on a shared computer, choose Sign out from the menu under your name.
What it does
- Share files, folders and notes, with a password and an expiry if you like.
- Find, edit and delete your shares, and download their files.
- Receive Inboxes, and turning a share into a gallery.
- Your account: password, two-factor and devices. For administrators: users, server settings, the address and server updates.
What it leaves to the apps
A browser cannot add a Finder or Explorer menu, hotkeys, screen captures or recordings, and a Live Share would stop when the tab closes. For those, use a HyperDrop app.
Updates
Your server installs the web version itself and keeps it current, checking this site once a day. It installs only versions signed by HyperDrop. There is nothing to update in the browser.
An administrator can turn the web version off, which signs out every browser. The web version guide has the details.
Rather have an app? Mac, Windows, Linux and Android. Need a server? Server Management sets one up.
