Terms of Service

Last updated 10 October 2026

The short version

  • The account and the free .hyperdrop.link address are a free service. Use them for anything lawful.
  • Your server is yours. What it serves is your responsibility, not ours.
  • A free name is lent to you, not sold to you. Abuse it and we take it back.
  • It comes with no guarantees and could stop at any time. Do not build something that cannot survive it going away.

1. Who you are agreeing with

HyperDrop is operated by Dmitry Eroshenko ("we", "us"). These terms cover the HyperDrop account at gethyperdrop.com/account/, the free name registry that issues <name>.hyperdrop.link addresses, and the push relay that carries notifications to the HyperDrop app on your iPhone or Android phone. By creating an account you accept them.

They do not govern HyperDrop Desktop, its extensions, Server Management or the HyperDrop server software itself, which you install and run on your own machines, and they do not make us a party to anything you share with anyone.

2. Your account

You need to be 16 or older. Sign-in is through Google or Apple; keep that login secure, because anyone who holds it holds your names. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication. One account per person, please.

Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account: abuse@gethyperdrop.com.

3. Your free name

An account may hold one free name by default. We may raise that for you, and we may change the default for everyone. To keep the pool usable there are rate limits, shown on your account page: a number of registrations per 24 hours, and a number of newly published names per seven days. Releasing a name does not refund either.

A free name is lent to you for as long as you use it within these terms. You do not own it, you cannot sell, rent or transfer it, and you gain no trademark or other right in it or in hyperdrop.link. We may refuse or reclaim a name that impersonates someone, that infringes a trademark, that is chosen to deceive, or that we need for the operation of the service.

DNS is published only once you approve a server that answers. We may reclaim a name that sits unused.

4. Your server and what it serves

You run the server. You choose what goes on it and who gets a link. Everything it serves is your responsibility, including making sure you have the right to share it and that sharing it is lawful where you and your recipients are.

On a server you run, we have no copy of your files and no ability to remove any individual file. If we receive a complaint about content at a .hyperdrop.link address pointing at your own server, the only thing we can act on is the name itself.

Where we host your shares for you instead, we hold the files, so we can and do remove individual content. The Abuse Policy says what we act on in each case, how to report something, and how copyright notices are handled.

5. What you may not do

  • Point a name at anything unlawful, or at material that sexually exploits children.
  • Use a name for phishing, malware, or to impersonate another person or organisation.
  • Send spam that leads to a name, or use one in a way that gets it blocklisted.
  • Register names in bulk, automate around the rate limits, or hold names to resell them.
  • Attack, probe or overload the account service, the registry, the push relay or the DNS behind them.
  • Use the free service as infrastructure for another product you offer to other people.

6. When we step in

If a name breaks these terms we may take its DNS offline, reclaim the name, or suspend or close the account. A suspended account keeps its names with DNS offline, so nothing is lost while we sort it out. Where the harm is urgent, such as active phishing or malware, we act first and without warning. We will normally tell you what happened, but we cannot promise to explain every decision or to give a name back.

Report a problem with a name to abuse@gethyperdrop.com. Tell us the name, what you saw and when.

7. Availability

This is a free service run by one person in their spare time. There is no uptime commitment, no support commitment, and no promise that a name that resolves today will resolve tomorrow. We may change how it works, add limits, or stop offering it altogether. We will give notice where we reasonably can, but we cannot promise it, and we are not obliged to keep a backup of anything.

Notifications. Notifications from your HyperDrop server to the HyperDrop app on your iPhone or Android phone pass through our push relay and Apple's or Google's push service. Delivery is not promised: a notification can arrive late, more than once, or not at all, and we may limit how many a server sends or a phone receives. Your server keeps the record of what happened; do not rely on a notification for anything that matters.

If your address matters to you, point HyperDrop at a domain you own. The app supports that, and nobody can take it away from you.

8. Ending it

You can release a name or ask us to delete your account at any time; see the Privacy Policy for what that removes. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and may close an account that has sat unused. Sections 4, 9, 10 and 12 survive the end of this agreement.

9. No warranty, and the limit of what we owe you

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted operation.

We do not monitor what any server serves, and nothing in these terms obliges us to.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost data, lost business or any indirect or consequential loss arising from the service, from a name becoming unavailable, or from anything served by your server. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for everything arising out of the service is limited to what you have paid us for it, which for the free service is nothing.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights your local law gives you, and nothing in these terms takes them away.

10. If someone brings a claim about your server

If a third party brings a claim against us because of what your server served, what you shared, or how you used a name, that claim is yours to deal with, and you will cover the reasonable costs it causes us. We will tell you about any such claim promptly and will not settle it without asking you first.

11. Changes to these terms

We will post changes here and update the date, so it is worth looking again from time to time. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. If you do not, release your names and ask us to close the account.

We may transfer these terms, the accounts and the name registry to someone else, for example if HyperDrop is sold or moved into a company. Your account and your names come with it, and this page will then name whoever operates the service. You cannot transfer your account to anyone else.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Vietnam, where the operator lives. If you are a consumer, you also keep the mandatory protections of the law of the country you live in, and nothing here removes them.
