AI agents
HyperDrop ships two MCP servers. One shares files on your behalf; the other installs and manages servers.
Contents
HyperDrop's MCP server
hyperdrop mcp, in HyperDrop Desktop and in the command line, lets an agent share and manage files through the server you are signed in to.
Tools: share_files, share_text, share_server_folder, edit_share, replace_file, add_files, delete_file, move_file, make_folder, remove_folder, delete_share, create_inbox, edit_inbox, fetch_file, and the read-only list_shares, show_share, list_inboxes, list_server_folders, server_status, recent_actions and find_file. It runs wherever the command line does, on macOS, Linux and Windows, and acts as the signed-in account, with its quota and the app's own version and identity checks, and cannot install servers, manage users or change the domain.
Every call but recent_actions (which reads it) is written to a local log, readable with hyperdrop actions; passwords are never logged.
Server Management's MCP server
hyperdrop-server-management mcp is a separate program with separate tools: list and check your servers, install one over SSH, reset an account's second factor, remove HyperDrop from a box, and the Synology guide.
No tool takes or returns a password, passphrase, two-factor code or admin password: when a job needs or shows one, Server Management opens its own window. Removing a server and resetting a second factor are confirmed by you in that window; no tool forgets a listed server or trusts a changed SSH host key.
Connect an agent
Both apps connect the same seven agents: Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Pi. Each shows the exact change first; only Confirm applies it.
- HyperDrop Desktop: Settings, AI Agents, then Connect on the agent's row.
- Server Management: Connect my agent on the welcome screen, or Manage agents under the server list.
Pi has no MCP support of its own; its row shows the snippet to add to ~/.pi/agent/mcp.json by hand.
To register Claude Code yourself, for file sharing on a Mac:
claude mcp add --scope user hyperdrop -- /Applications/HyperDrop.app/Contents/Resources/hyperdrop mcp
On Linux, on Windows, or on a Mac without the app, with the command line on your PATH and connected:
claude mcp add --scope user hyperdrop -- hyperdrop mcp
For Server Management on macOS:
claude mcp add --scope user hyperdrop-server-management -- "/Applications/HyperDrop Server Management.app/Contents/MacOS/hyperdrop-server-management" mcp
On Linux from the .deb or .rpm:
claude mcp add --scope user hyperdrop-server-management -- /usr/bin/hyperdrop-server-management mcp
On Windows, and on Linux from the .zip, use the path of the extracted executable in place of the one shown. Start a new Claude Code session afterwards.
