Install from Package Center
DSM 7 (tested 7.2.2 and 7.3.2). DSM 6.2 (tested 6.2.3).
- Package Center → Settings → General → Trust Level: Any publisher. DSM 6 refuses the package otherwise.
- Package Center → Settings → Package Sources → Add, with this address:
Then Community → HyperDrop → Install. Or download the package for your DSM version and processor and use Manual Install.https://gethyperdrop.com/synology/ - DSM warns that the package is from a third-party developer. Click Agree; the install wizard opens.
- Choose an Admin password and fill in one address.
Package Center refuses the package? See Troubleshooting.
The install wizard
- Admin username and Admin password: the account you sign in with from HyperDrop Desktop.
- Free address or Or your own domain, one of them.
alicebecomesalice.hyperdrop.link; your own domain needs the two DNS records first. - HTTP port and HTTPS port: keep 5080 and 5443 unless another package uses them.
- Proxy address (optional): empty unless a proxy forwards ports 443 and 80 to HyperDrop; then the proxy's address,
127.0.0.1when it runs on the NAS (when ports 443 and 80 are taken).
On your router
- Forward port 443 to the NAS's HTTPS port (5443 by default). Always.
- Forward port 80 to the HTTP port (5080 by default): required for a free address, optional for your own domain.
The certificate is issued once the address and the 443 forward are in place; the first start can take a few minutes. Ports already used by DSM or another device: When ports 443 and 80 are taken. More: Router forwards.
Share folders already on the NAS
Give HyperDrop read access to a shared folder: Control Panel → Shared Folder → select the folder → Edit → Permissions → System internal user → HyperDrop → Read.
Updates
Package Center offers each new version under Installed → HyperDrop → Update, or Manual Install the newer package over the old one; shares, links and settings are kept. See Updates.
Until Package Center lists a new version, the app and the command line keep working with a server one minor version older or newer (Version mismatch).
