Install on a Linux server
Server Management installs over SSH; the installer runs on the box itself. Both end at the same server.

Requirements
- Linux with systemd, x86_64 or ARM64. LXC containers work.
- Root, or a user with passwordless sudo.
- A public IPv4 address, or a home router that forwards port 443 to the box.
- An address: a free
<name>.hyperdrop.linkname or a domain you own. See Address and router.
The server listens on ports 443 and 80 itself.
With Server Management
Server Management installs over SSH from macOS, Windows or Linux and stores no password. Choose On a VPS, enter the host and SSH login, and press Check connection. On Your address, pick a free name or your own domain and the administrator's username, press Continue, then Install now. It downloads the newest server, verifies it, installs it and rolls back if the new server never comes up healthy. The done screen shows the address, login, admin password and a join link; choose Open in HyperDrop or copy the link for another Mac.
It needs the box reachable at its own public IPv4. Behind a home router, use the installer. On a Linux computer, install Server Management itself from the package repository, so it updates with the system.
With the one-line installer
curl -fsSL https://gethyperdrop.com/install.sh | sudo sh
It asks for a free name or a domain, the admin username (default admin) and an admin password (empty generates one). It verifies the download's SHA-256 against the hash in the script and installs the service. Read the script: it is everything that runs as root.
It prints the address, username and password, and with your own domain the two A records to create. A free name is claimed at the first start; approve it in your HyperDrop account when asked (how).
Without a terminal, set HYPERDROP_DDNS_NAME or HYPERDROP_DOMAIN, HYPERDROP_ADMIN_USER and HYPERDROP_ADMIN_PASSWORD in the environment.
A box that already runs HyperDrop is refused. HYPERDROP_RESET_ADMIN=1 reinstalls and sets a new admin password, keeping every share. To update, use Update Server instead.
Behind a home router
curl -fsSL https://gethyperdrop.com/install.sh | sudo HYPERDROP_BEHIND_NAT=1 sh
Forward port 443 to the box's 443 and, for a free name, port 80 to its 80 (why). With your own domain, both A records carry the router's public IPv4. If 443 or 80 is taken: When ports 443 and 80 are taken.
